Wild Sauna Club’s Laura explains why Hermitage Works was the perfect spot for her new outdoor sauna and cold plunge venue.

Wild Sauna Club at Hermitage Works is a new contrast therapy venue, offering outdoor wellness – located just five minutes from Harborough. Set along the A6 between Market Harborough and Desborough, Wild Sauna Club at Hermitage Works brings together nature, heat therapy, cold immersion and social connection in one peaceful, purpose-built outdoor space.
At the centre of the experience is their wood-fired outdoor sauna and refreshing cold-water plunge baths, designed to help people reconnect with their bodies, reduce stress and enjoy phone free time in nature. The combination of hot, cold and rest is a simple but powerful practice known for improving circulation, boosting mood, enhancing resilience and offering a deep sense of wellbeing – and who doesn’t want some of that?! Wild Sauna Club has, until now, been a mobile business, popping up at regular venues across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. After hosting a series of pops up in the Hermitage Offices courtyard, Laura of Wild Sauna Club, and Caroline of Hermitage Works, hatched a plan to include a space for Wild Sauna Club to set up home. Laura has one of her gorgeous horse box sauna conversions based permanently at Hermitage Works, and the other one continues to be on the road providing sauna opportunities at pop-up venues, and when extra sauna seats are needed at the Works. The new venue will grow overtime, and Laura has big plans for its future. Including spaces for people to host retreats and event collaborations. She’s super excited about the opportunity to develop this community space. ‘When I first started Wild Sauna Club it was about giving sauna opportunities to wild swimmers. But I soon realised everyone who came through the sauna door quickly fell in love with Wild Sauna, just like I had. My new venue allows me to really lean into all the aspects that make Wild Sauna so restorative – hot, cold, nature and community. ‘I want this new space to be a real community well-being tool. It’s not a fancy spa that costs hundreds of pounds to visit, that you might only go to once a year. Wild Sauna Club at Hermitage Works is a space for people to use daily, weekly, monthly, for special occasions or for a get-together with friends. It’s an alcohol free, (mainly) phone free venue, that allows everyone to fully switch off and have quiet time – or to have those catch ups that matter. ‘I really want everyone to feel comfortable visiting, and I want people to come as they are. Yes, everyone is in their swimwear, and that can feel exposing and vulnerable, but it’s also a real leveller – and freeing. Nobody in the sauna cares what anyone else looks like, if other people have or haven’t shaved their legs, or what lumps and bumps everyone has. It’s just about feeling good, and the happy hormones your body releases in the hot and the cold, will make sure you do feel good.’ Visitors to Wild Sauna Club will be guided through how best use the space and then move between the warmth of the sauna and the invigorating cold of the plunge pools. This hot and cold cycle and the natural setting feels both energising and calming. Whether you’re coming for relaxation, recovery, mental clarity, time with friends, time outdoors, or just a moment to escape from everyday life, this is a space to support your well-being in a meaningful way.
