What drew you to Stoneygate?
LGS Stoneygate is an inspirational co-ed, 4-16 independent school and that is what attracted me initially. As I prepared for my interview, the first thing I connected with were the core values, which are: We are caring, we are creative, we are curious, and we are committed. I thought, if you are those four things for the rest of your life, you’re going to be a well-educated, wonderful human being. From the day I came to interview for the Headship, I quickly realised that my philosophies aligned with the school’s philosophies and that this was the school I wanted to work in. Needless to say, I was delighted when they phoned and offered me the job. What makes LGS Stoneygate different? I know I’m biased, but the school is so beautiful! Set within 45 stunning acres, it instils an enthusiasm and a calmness at the same time, and that allows for really focused learning. Here, every child can grow to their capacity emotionally, academically and physically so they can be the best version of themselves. As an independent, all-through school from Reception all the way to Year 11, we offer a consistent educational journey and can eliminate any anxiety from starting secondary school. We are a community where all the teachers know our pupils as individuals. We welcome pupils starting in Year 7, too. Our pastoral and teaching team are hugely trained to ensure a smooth transition for all new students and build confidence from day one. Being an independent school, we have the luxury to match our curriculum to suit our values and our cohort which ensures a robust educational offer to all pupils. Along with varied GCSE options, we also offer vocational routes, such as BTEC qualifications (which are the equivalent to GCSE qualifications). We are able to offer a curriculum that you can’t create in a small space, for example we provide Forest School all the way up to Year 9, which offers the opportunity for exceptional levels of personal development. LGS Stoneygate gives space to grow. We are small and ambitious. We have a really robust curriculum, but on top of that, we’ve got happy children in a happy school. We value our children and we do this with high levels of expectation from their first day. So, whether it’s the start of your school journey or you’re in Year 11, we want every student to be pushed as far as they can to be the best that they can. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families. How can parents visit the school? Our open morning on Saturday 7th October promises to be an excellent event! Visitors will see the journey through the school with all areas of the school open. Visitors are going to be able to experience interactive activities that spark imagination, listen to music and view sports in action. Our Maths and Science labs will have some spectacular experiments happening, so be sure not to miss those! Plus, our catering team will be offering samples from their delicious school dinner menu for you to try out and we will have refreshments available all morning. On top of that we also have some unusual visitors coming too! To find out more about LGS Stoneygate and to book your place, head to: lgs-stoneygate.org.uk.
